Real Madrid target Richarlison could leave Tottenham Hotspur if a huge offer arrives – pundit
Former Tottenham Hotspur and England shot-stopper Paul Robinson is of the opinion that unless a ‘huge’ offer arrives, Richarlison may not leave N17.
The Brazil international is lighting up the 2022 FIFA World Cup, scoring three goals in the competition. He netted in both of his team’s friendlies in September earlier this year.
Richarlison joined the Lilywhites for 60million Pounds from Everton – not at all a small amount of money. And that is why links to Real Madrid come as a surprise.
According to Defensa Central (h/t Liverpool Echo) recently, Richarlison is among a number of strikers that Real Madrid could make a move for once the World Cup is over. They could be in a situation where they have to find a long-term successor to 34-year-old Karim Benzema.
And we know their M.O. A player doing well on the biggest stage in club and international football usually catches their eye. Richy is doing that this season.
His brace against Olympique de Marseille in our 2-0 UEFA Champions League group-stage win really got him going in a Tottenham shirt. For Brazil, his form is there for all to see.
And Robinson believes that teams will be taking notice of the 25-year-old’s rise to stardom. He exclusively told Football Insider:
“Of course there is going to be teams watching his performances, knowing what he is capable of. So it does not surprise me. Tottenham will want to hold on to him. They put a lot of money into the deal so they will want to keep him for the future.”
“They are building something for the future. Unless it is a huge amount of money to take him away from there, I am not sure it will happen.”
Former Everton chief Marcel Brands claimed recently that Richarlison is a player who could be playing for Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the future given his quality.
We’ve just signed him this summer and would have anticipated such a situation during the time we were agreeing on a deal with him. Hopefully, there is nothing to worry about regarding his future at Spurs.
