Transfer News: Manchester United are interested in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur
According to Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are interested in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur. Liverpool and Real Madrid also have been credited for an interest in the Uruguayan.
Bentancur joined Spurs on deadline day in January earlier this year for €25 million including add-ons. Since then, the 25-year-old has been the go-to midfielder for Antonio Conte along with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Now, the midfielder who sees his current contract expire in 2026 has attracted interest from some top clubs. It is believed that the north London club will not allow him to leave for anything less than €60 million.
✍️ We are delighted to announce the signing of Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus, subject to international clearance and a work permit.

Welcome to Spurs, Rodrigo! 🇺🇾
It is hardly surprising to see the interest in the 25-year-old. The midfielder has been one of our best players since joining us and played an essential role in helping us finish fourth last season.
He has also continued to pull the strings from the middle of the park this season, having featured in 21 games in all competitions and scoring five goals in the process. Among all the midfielders in the team, the 25-year-old is the only one capable of going forward effectively.
Conte will be wise to keep the Uruguayan this season. His partnership with Hojbjerg has bought us success so far and it will not make sense for the boss to break such an established partnership.
Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp have not been able to prove themselves so far this season, while scouting and signing another top-class midfielder would only increase the workload on the manager and his team.
United have good options in their midfield and should the 25-year-old make a move he will have to compete with the likes of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro for a place in the starting eleven. Here, he is almost a guaranteed starter week in and out.
