Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur eyeing Borussia Dortmund winger Donyell Malen
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti (h/t Evening Standard), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Borussia Dortmund winger Donyell Malen. This comes after Richarlison is set to be sidelined for some time.
The Brazilian picked up a hamstring injury during Brazil’s loss against Croatia in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. The 25-year-old has been sidelined and is expected to be out for a long time.
It looks like Antonio Conte is already looking for some reinforcement with the Dortmund winger being one of them. The 23-year-old joined the Bundesliga side last summer from PSV Eindhoven.
Since then, the winger has slowly been working to cement himself further in the first team. Capable of playing anywhere in the frontline, the Netherlands international has made 17 appearances so far in all competitions, scoring one and assisting another three in the process.
Conte has preferred the trio of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski up front with Richarlison providing tough competition. Bryan Gil and Lucas Moura have failed to impress the boss this season.
Recent injuries to the Brazilian and Kulusevski further highlighted the lack of depth in the team. With a hectic second half of the season lying ahead, it would make sense for the Lilywhites to reinforce every department possible.
Malen is a young and talented winger who has shown his capability and potential in Germany. A former Arsenal youth player, he would likely have no problem adjusting to life in north London.
