Club News: Phil Parry does not see Tottenham Hotspur ‘pulling the plug’ on Antonio Conte
BBC Radio London’s Phil Parry while speaking on The Far Post podcast said that he does not believe Tottenham Hotspur ‘pulling the plug’ on manager Antonio Conte at the moment.
Conte, who joined us midway last season in January to replace Nuno Espirito Santos, sees his current contract expire at the end of this season. The Athletic earlier reported this week that the north London side are set for a fresh talk with the manager over a new long-term deal.
Now, Parry has had his say on the situation and he believes that the Lilywhites will want to continue with the former Juventus and Inter Milan manager.
“I think Spurs will want to trigger the contract extension won’t they? So from that point of view they would love for that to happen. You just never know with Antonio.”
“I think he would get to at least two years, so the start of next season I think so. I think it will be down to him. I can’t see Spurs pulling the plug on Antonio at this moment in time.”
The boss has done a fantastic job so far since taking charge of the club. He guided us to a top-four finish on the last day of last season and made sure we play in the Champions League this season.
Spurs have gotten off to a better start this season. The north London side sit fourth on the table after 14 games and also finished their Champions League group-stage campaign as toppers of their group.
Conte has also been backed heavily by the club with him splashing the cash this summer to bring in players like Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Djed Spence and other to reinforce his squad.
If anything so far the boss has proved himself to be the right person to lead the club. For long, Spurs have been trolled for their lack of a trophy in recent time and with a serial winner like Conte at the helm, he seems the right person to lead us to break the deadlock.
