Spurs Transfer News: Double blow for Tottenham Hotspur in their bid to sign Kim Min-jae from Napoli
Tottenham Hotspur have received a double blow in their bid to sign South Korea and Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae. Firstly, the player has told You Quiz on the Block (h/t Daily Mail) that he is ‘disturbed’ by recent rumours linking him with a transfer.
And secondly, Gli Azzurri have apparently opened talks to renew the defender’s contract at the club. Kim joined Napoli just this summer for a fee of 16million Pounds.
That amount has proven to be a steal so far. He has been immense for club and country, helping Napoli open up an eight-point lead at the top of the Serie A table.
For South Korea, he was an important figure at the 2022 FIFA World Cup where they made it out of a group which had Uruguay, Portugal, and Ghana.
They did so by beating Portugal 1-0 in their third group game, but they eventually bowed out after a 4-1 loss at the hands of Brazil in the round of 16. Now, amidst links to Manchester United and Spurs, he said:
“There are a lot of transfer stories around me, but I’ve only been at Napoli for six months. I’ve avoided interviews, and one of the reasons is that the rumours about me disturb me.”
His current deal expires in the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt) and it would be a shock if the Serie A side let him leave so early after just signing him to replace Kalidou Koulibaly in their defence.
Rumours can of course disturb a player’s concentration and see it affect their performance as well. But it can’t be denied that links with a top team like Spurs can only be an indication that a player is doing something right.

This seems like a transfer that may not be nailed on given their player’s contract situation. Moreover, his stocks would have shot up after a decent showing in Qatar. Best to focus on other options.
