Tottenham Transfer News: Liverpool could make loan move for Spurs target Weston McKennie
Liverpool could make a loan move for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie in the January transfer window, who is also on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur.
This is according to Liverpool.com who cite a report from Daily Mail mentioning Liverpool’s potential intentions in the January transfer window. Chelsea are also said to be keen on signing the 24-year-old Juventus star.
McKennie can play as a central midfielder as well as down the right flank. He has a great engine on him and is as able a player off the ball as he is on it.
On paper, he seems to be an ideal player for us and even Liverpool. The Reds usually play with a midfield trio that are more concerned with running around, winning the ball back, and recycling possession.
Spurs must sign McKennie
Same goes for our double pivot who, apart from the occasional attacking runs, are more concentrated on shielding the defence. McKennie displayed his abilities at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Strictly from the point of view of a Spurs fan, it was good that neither he nor the USA made gigantic waves that would attract the intentions of European superclubs or increase his potential valuation.
But that is something that can’t be said for sure. It remains to be seen how Juventus feel about loaning him out, and if the player himself is open to a temporary move to a team that may lead to nowhere once the season ends.
Spurs must be trying to sign him permanently and make him believe in our project. Our midfield needs an injection of quality and competition which McKennie can provide.

Juventus and Spurs share a common link through manager Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici, and they sold us Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski in January. Hopefully, we can pull some strings and beat the competition to sign the former Schalke 04 midfielder who promises to be a truly world-class player one day.
