Newcastle and Manchester United want Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane
Newcastle United and Manchester United ‘could make a move’ to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, as per GiveMeSport (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 29-year-old is set to return to club football after an underwhelming 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign with England. Kane scored against Senegal in their 3-0 last 16 win and assisted thrice in the group stages.
But the Three Lions faltered against France in the quarter-finals via a 2-1 scoreline, where Kane got on the scoresheet again. England went into the tournaments as one of the favourites.
And many backed Kane to win the FIFA Golden Boot once again after winning it four years earlier in Russia. Now, the Tottenham man could realise that time could be running out if he wants to win trophies.
Can Newcastle provide that? They are arguably a club behind us when it comes to being a finished project. Sure, they have the financial might of their new Saudi Arabian owners behind them.
A move to Newcastle or Man United makes no sense
But that doesn’t guarantee immediate trophies and neither does it guarantee that the Spurs man would have world class players around him immediately if he does make the switch there.
From Kane’s perspective, if he had to move somewhere, Manchester United would be a strong option. They have the history, culture, and a manager in Erik ten Hag that promises big things.
But so do Spurs in manager Antonio Conte. It will be a surprise if Kane chooses to join teams at par with Tottenham or even further behind us when it comes to competing for big trophies.
Right now, only Manchester City and arguably Liverpool can prove to be a stark upgrade on us and both of us made huge signings up front in Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez, respectively, this summer.

That being said, it is very important for us to tie Kane down to a new contract. His current deal expires at the end of next season.
