Tottenham Hotspur target Sofayn Amrabat ‘prefers’ move to Liverpool
Liverpool have already held conversations over the possibility of signing Tottenham Hotspur target Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina and plan to do it again, as per Foot Mercato (h/t Evening Standard).
Spurs have been linked with the Morocco international for a while. They were apparently interested in signing the defensive midfielder from La Viola in the January transfer window earlier this year.
But no move materialised. Now, he is the captain of a national team that made it all the way to the FIFA World Cup semi-finals, and has a hefty price tag of 40million Euros on his head.
The 26-year-old is in the prime years of his career and would certainly strengthen most midfields in top European teams. He is a strong tackler, able reader of the game, and a neat passer of the ball.
No bother for Spurs
He doesn’t do a lot in attacks but he does his job well, which is to shield his team’s defence and be safe with possession. But for the aforementioned price tag, it won’t be the end of the world if we let the Reds have him.
He apparently prefers a move to the Reds but hasn’t decided on which club he wants to join. We may be ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side at the moment but no one can deny their success in recent years.
Moreover, Fabinho Tavares’ visible struggles this campaign as well as a lack of a backup defensive midfielder would perhaps make it seem like Amrabat would have a good chance of getting playing time there.
At Spurs, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjer are untouchable in Tottenham’s midfield. While Amrabat would be brilliant reinforcement in that area, an attacking midfielder is something we should prioritise before we make signings elsewhere in midfield.
