Fabrizio Romano confirms that Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Tottenham Hotspur target Matheus Cunha
Reputed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha amid Tottenham Hotspur interest.
The journalist has provided details of the transfer stating that the 23-year-old will join the Wolves on loan with an obligation to buy. The fee will be around €40-50 million and an agreement has been reached with both the club and the player.
Spurs were interested in the forward as Antonio Conte looks to add reinforcements to his squad ahead of what could be considered a very hectic second half to the season.

Cunha has struggled to establish himself as a first-team player under Diego Simeone at the Madrid-based club. The Brazilian international has made 17 appearances, mainly from the bench, in all competitions so far, registering two assists in the process.
He was also not selected to be part of the World Cup squad for his country which failed to make it past the quarter-finals. While the centre-forward has not played much, he is still a threat and could have been a good addition to our squad.
While Conte has found success with a few attacking players, the likes of Bryan Gil and Lucas Moura have struggled to provide the necessary competition. Also, the duo have uncertain futures, making it more urgent to add reinforcements up front.
But with the amount of money that the Wolves are playing, it will be wise to say that Spurs have dodged a bullet here. The forward has had his moments in Spain, but has not proved himself to be worth so much money.

It remains to be seen if Spurs will regret missing out on the player going forward. With the January window less than a fortnight away, it will be wise for the north London club to focus on different targets.
