Tottenham Hotspur offer Antonio Conte a pay raise worth £1 million per year

Tottenham Hotspur are keen to keep hold of their manager Antonio Conte as The Telegraph (subscription required) [h/t Express] reports that the north London club have offered the boss a pay raise worth £1 million per year.

Such a bonus would see Conte’s salary rise to around £16 million, making him one of the best-paid managers in the world. This comes after the 53-year-old sees his current contract expire next summer, although the club has the option to extend it by another year.

Despite such a lucrative offer, the manager still has not decided on his future. It is believed that he wants the club to prove they share the same ambition by backing him in the market.

Conte took charge of the north London club in January and signed players like Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski. They went on to be difference makers and Spurs sealed a Champions League finish last season.

The summer window was one of the best as a Spurs fan as the club splashed money to bring in reinforcements like Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison to name a few.

Spurs have enjoyed an excellent start to this season, sitting fourth on the table and qualifying for the next round after finishing top of their Champions League group. But the boss is hungry for more signings.

It is believed that club chairman Daniel Levy is willing to sanction two signings in the January transfer window, with the Italian manager keen to bring in a defender and a creative midfielder as a priority.

Conte has delivered for us since taking charge and it would make sense to back him with as much as possible. With a manager who has a history of winning silverware, backing him could help the club end their own drought in that department.
