Patrick Evra backs Brentford to beat Tottenham Hotspur on Monday
Former Manchester United defender Patrick Evra has backed Brentford to beat Tottenham Hotspur when the two sides meet on Monday (December 26) as the Premier League resumes after a month-long break.
Evra, while speaking to Betfair (h/t Metro) made the prediction that the north London club will suffer a 2-1 defeat as Antonio Conte hopes to make further strides in the second half of the season.
“It’s going to be tough to come straight back. I’m going to go for Brentford, I think they will be fresher, will have had more time with more players back in training together.”
While his logic for making such a prediction may be correct to a certain level, we don’t completely agree with the assessment. Every player except Cristian Romero and Hugo Lloris had come back much before.

Romero had the time of his life in Qatar, helping his country Argentina win the World Cup while Lloris and France were on the losing end in what was a thrilling final for the ultimate prize in the game.
Spurs on their part have been enjoying a decent season in the league so far. We are sitting fourth currently with 29 points and fans will hope for a better second half as Conte will hope to deliver another top-four finish.
Harry Kane has been our best player so far, with the England captain netting 12 times in 15 league appearances. Dejan Kulusevski has also been good for us while Son Hueng-min and Richarlison could do much better.
The Bees too have been decent so far this season with Thomas Frank’s side currently 10th with 19 points, sitting ten points behind us. While they have had fewer players to send to the World Cup, Spurs have had enough time to practice before the game.
