Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira sends transfer plea to Tottenham Hotspur target Wilfried Zaha
To barely anyone’s surprise, Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira wants Wilfried Zaha, who is on the transfer radar of Tottenham Hotspur among other teams, to stay at Selhurst Park beyond this season.
The Ivory Coast international is in the final year of his contract and is set to become a free agent in the summer of 2023. Speaking ahead of the Eagles’ Premier League clash against Fulham on Sunday, Vieira said (h/t Metro):
“Wilfried knows the position of the football club and the decision is going to be his. When he will be ready, we will listen to what he has to say. But everyone knows we want him to stay in our football club. We want to grow with Wilfried as one of our leaders, but the decision has to be his.”
Given his contract situation, it is expected that several teams will be eyeing him. Spurs, along with Barcelona and Juventus, have all been touted as potential suitors.
A move to any of these clubs would be a big step up from Palace, considering Zaha is yet to try his hand at European football with Crystal Palace. A player of his ability and experience can be a very good squad option for some of Europe’s biggest teams .
He has scored 20 league goals since the start of the 2021-22 season and the versatile forward is arguably Palace’s best and most important player. And that is why, it is understandable that the Eagles will want him to stay with them for a longer time.
Another blow for them would be the prospect of losing a player like him for nothing. It will make a move for Zaha vert attractive for suitors, but would be a big financial blow for the Selhurst Park outfit.

That is, of course, not our lookout. Spurs fans would surely be over the moon if Zaha comes to N17 as a free agent. He would be a brilliant addition to our frontline, even if he won’t be guaranteed a starting berth given the talent already at our disposal.
