Antonio Conte confident Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane will get over penalty miss
Speaking in an interview as quoted by the Independent, Antonio Conte has revealed that he is confident Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane will get over the penalty miss for England against France.
Kane had a glorious chance to pull England back on level terms in the game against Les Blues after Theo Hernandez fouled Mason Mount in the box. However, the Tottenham man blazed his penalty over the bar under pressure.
It was not the first penalty that the Spurs man took on the day though. Kane was the one who slotted England’s first spot-kick home with absolute ease but he somehow got under the second one.
It was a nightmare for Kane and England who could not come back into the game after that and eventually had to settle for a quarter-final exit from the tournament despite being the much better team.
The pressure of the situation would have been enormous no doubt but the fact that Kane had to do it twice against club teammate Hugo Lloris who knows him better than any other keeper in the world would not have helped the cause.
Speaking about the penalty incident, Conte was pretty confident that Kane would not have a problem putting it behind him.
“It’s not so important to find people to tell you ‘oh, don’t worry’. We are strong. When you play at this level, you have to be a strong person. We are talking about an important player and they know the way to respond”
Kane, as Conte says, will know exactly how to bounce back up from this situation. A penalty miss can happen to anyone and the Tottenham man is no different. He will be fresh and raring to go for the second half of the season.
The Tottenham striker is an important player for the club and Conte will be banking on him to keep scoring and helping the team. The next penalty that Kane slots home should ease the nerves and people will move on.
