Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is not happy to be playing so soon after the World Cup
Speaking in an interview as quoted by the Independent, Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has revealed that he is not happy to be playing so soon after the World Cup.
Conte has rued the fact that his team have not had enough time to rest and that the footballing action has returned so soon. He feels it’s not good for the physical state of the players.
The Premier League is one of the first leagues to return after the World Cup. La Liga doesn’t return until the end of next week whilst the Bundesliga does not return until the 20th of next month.

Antonio Conte addressed the media ahead of our Boxing Day trip to Brentford ⤵️
It’s because of the fact that all clubs in the Premier League have to take part in the league as well as two domestic cups and also due to the tradition of playing a league game on Boxing day.
There was no choice but to schedule these games as soon as they did. It comes as a negative for top clubs like Tottenham who would have had many players out on international duty at the World Cup.
Here is what Conte had to say about the issue when asked and admitted he would have liked more time.
“It is a strange situation and honestly to play so quickly – only one week after the World Cup – I am not really happy”
On the other hand, clubs that are at the mid-level and lower levels of the Premier League won’t really have an issue due to the fact that they would not have had many players away at the World Cup.
This is the peril of being a big club. You can either be happy that a lot of your players get to play at the biggest stage there is but at the same time, rue the fact that they will be tired after such a draining tournament.
