Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Spurs and Napoli arrange face-to-face meeting for Tanguy Ndombele
Tottenham Hotspur chief Daniel Levy and his Napoli counterpart, Aurelio de Laurentiis, have arranged a face-to-face meeting in London to discuss the future of Tanguy Ndombele, as per Foot Mercato (h/t Express).
The French midfielder arrived at Spurs from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer of 2019 for a club-record fee of 63million Pounds. Since then, he has completely failed to get a foothold in our first-team set-up despite his occasional flashes of brilliance.
The 25-year-old was allowed to leave for Napoli this summer on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy for 26.4million Pounds. That is a rather modest amount given what we paid for him.
But Gli Azzurri want to bring that down further. Ndombele has made 18 appearances across competitions this season for Napoli, and has a goal and an assist to his name.
What should Spurs do?
The silky dribbler is a force to reckon with on his day – but that has been the problem during his time at N17. His good days are very rare, and it feels like it’s because he doesn’t give it his all on the pitch, especially off the ball.
This particular attitude on the field is a reason why he isn’t held in a good stead amongst Spurs fans anymore. But if things are working out for him in Naples, then Spurs should just cut their losses and get Ndombele off their books once and for all.
It has become evident that the Frenchman’s future lies elsewhere rather than at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He has failed to impress any of the managers he has worked with in north London.

There is no point in delaying the inevitable and Napoli want to bring down the price a little bit, it would be wise to accept it and get him off our wage books once and for all. The meeting is said to be scheduled for early in the January transfer window, which could also result in a little boost to our transfer kitty for the month ahead.
