Spurs Transfer News: PSG enter race for Tottenham and Liverpool target Sofyan Amrabat
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are the latest entrants in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool transfer target Sofyan Amrabat, as per Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Morocco international has been on manager Antonio Conte’s radar for a while, and Spurs have been tracking him since before the 2022 FIFA World Cup. But it was in Qatar where Amrabat became a truly global name.
He was the star in a Morocco side that created history by reaching the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup. Their journey ended in heartbreak after successive losses against France and Croatia, but it was a campaign to remember.
And Amrabat was a big part of that. The Fiorentina midfielder, 26, specialises in breaking down attacks and shielding his team’s defence.
Blow for Spurs
He is a proper number 6 who could provide solid competition to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur. Playing him in a double pivot or in a midfield three could allow Conte to play more adventurous midfielders alongside him.
But PSG are now eager to sign him, with Achraf Hakimi’s good relationship with his countrymen potentially a factor Les Parisiens could take advantage of. Moreover, the player’s brother has publicly joked that he wants PSG to sign Sofyan.
Speaking to French outlet L’Équipe (h/t Liverpool Echo) earlier this month, his brother, Nordin, publicly asked PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi to make a move for the Fiorentina midfielder.
“Nasser Al-Khelaifi, if you read my words, take my brother!”
PSG have a slew of midfielders that Spurs fans would hope that puts him off from moving to the Parc des Princes. They already have world-class players like Danilo Pereira and Marco Verrati, and signed the likes of Vitinha and Renato Sanches this summer.

We could use Amrabat in our midfield because one injury to Bentancur or Hojbjerg could then derail our season. The Uruguayan’s recent unavailability against Brentford saw Yves Bissouma start, who wasn’t impressive at all once again in Tottenham white.
