Inter Milan have entered the race to sign Franck Kessie, who is also linked with Tottenham Hotspur
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Football London), Antonio Conte’s former club Inter Milan have entered the race for FC Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie, who is also linked with Tottenham Hotspur.
Kessie joined Barcelona from AC Milan this summer itself but has failed to nail a starting position in the team and now just after six months, the Catalan club are ready to cut their losses and open to offers for the Ivorian midfielder
According to Onda Cero (h/t Football London), Tottenham made a bid in the region of £13 million for the player however the player wishes to remain at his current club.
Antonio Conte is keen to add quality to the team and Kessie certainly fits the bill, having been immense for AC Milan during his spell there and has the necessary experience to compete on the top level.
At just 24 years of age, the midfielder could definitely be improved further under the right guidance and provides the team with a different skill set. Hopefully, past affiliations with AC Milan play a factor in such a deal and prevent him from moving to Inter Milan.
Although that is just wishful thinking, considering there are many, many players in history that have worn the jersey of both the Milan teams in the past. Moreover, it will give Kessie the chance to return to a league where he has been comfortable playing in the past.
We need competition for the holding midfield role and Conte is keen to add new profiles to compete with the likes of Pierre Emile-Hojberg and Rodrigo Bentancur. The restart of the Premier League has been disappointing for us with a draw and a loss which has seen us drop out of the top four.
It is definitely concerning if the current slump of form continues and ideally there should be some activity from our side to get the momentum back and help Conte to fight for the top four with a gruelling season ahead.
