Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Richarlison: Triple Tottenham Hotspur injury update for Crystal Palace tie
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has given an update on Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison before the derby against Crystal Palace on 4 January.
The trio were not in our squad when we lost 2-0 to Aston Villa. As a result, we looked toothless up front, especially with Son Heung-min being horribly out of form.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference before the clash at Selhurst Park, Conte said (h/t Football.London):
“About Rodrigo Bentancur, he has started to work. He’s still not ready and also for the FA Cup game but we hope to have him back for the next Premier League game.”
He then gave an update on Richarlison, who sustained a hamstring injury in Brazil’s 2022 FIFA World Cup loss against Croatia. The former Everton striker hit form just in time for the showpiece event in Qatar, but could have to wait a while to return from injury.
“About Richarlison we have to see and check the situation and for sure in the future he will have another MRI to understand very well his situation.”
The Swedish winger, meanwhile, was left out of the clash against the Villans as a precaution. Hopefully, he is back in time for the game against manager Patrick Vieira’s side given how brilliant he has been down the right-hand side this season. Conte added:
“Kulusevski is not a serious injury but you know we need to monitor it day by day and tomorrow and then we take the best decision. I don’t know [if he can face Palace]. We have today and tomorrow to check his situation.”
“We’ll see. The injury is not serious. If the player gives his availability then he could play. Otherwise we have to wait and have patience for the next game.”
They were out of the team that faced Villa but Spurs fans will hope at least one of Richarlison and Kulusevski is fit to face Palace. Perhaps the game comes a bit too early for either of them.

Bentancur’s absence will have to be tackled by trusting Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp more in midfield. Or, the best way to tackle this mini injury-crisis would be to dip in the tranfser market and fill the squad with quality for now, and the future.
