Spurs News: Tottenham Hotspur to battle Man United and Chelsea for Denzel Dumfries
Manchester United and Chelsea are two of Tottenham Hotspur’s main competitors for Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries in the January transfer window, as per Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t ESPN).
Inter could be open to opening negotiations for the player if an offer of around 60million Euros arrives on their table. Chelsea would want to sign Dumfries as a competition for Reece James.
Manchester United have Aaron Wan-Bissaka returning to form after the 2022 FIFA World Cup but they could also bring in Dumfries as an upgrade on the Englishman and Diogo Dalot. But this is where Spurs can have an edge.

A move to Tottenham can come with a guarantee of playing time and hardly any serious competition. Emerson Royal has been a weak link in our defence while Matt Doherty hasn’t been the best when given a chance.
Spurs must step up their pursuit of Dumfries
The Netherlands international will undoubtedly be an upgrade on both ends of the pitch if he arrives at N17, at least on paper. Djed Spence will have to wish for a miracle if he wants to force his way into manager Antonio Conte’s starting XI.
He has three Premier League appearances this season – all as last-minute substitutes. We are also after Sporting CP’s Pedro Porro but a move for Dumfries wouldn’t be bad either.

In fact, many fans could prefer the latter given he has proven his mettle with a huge club like Inter in Serie A for the past year and a half. The 26-year-old is also more experienced at both club and international level.

The price-tag for Dumfries is a bit steep but that is what quality can cost in this day and age. The Red Devils and the Blues are no small competitors that we can swat away easily, which is why we will have to be open to doing the extra bit of work to sign a world-class player like Dumfries.
