William Saliba and Bukayo Saka could end up missing the north London derby vs Tottenham Hotspur
According to The Mirror, Arsenal risk facing Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby without first team stars William Saliba and Bukayo Saka.
The Gunners find themselves comfortable at the Premier League summit. Spurs despite their good start to the campaign have fallen off and now find themselves embroiled in the battle for a top four finish.
A win against our arch-rivals at home would be an excellent way to get the season back on track. It would not just hinder their title charge but also rekindle the positivity within Antonio Conte’s roster.
The north London derby will be held on 15 January at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Arsenal face Newcastle United before that and will need to ensure that Bukayo Saka and William Saliba do not pick up a yellow card or more.
Both players are a booking away from their fifth yellow card of the campaign, meaning a one match suspension is in the offing. Should either player fail to escape unscathed against the Magpies, they risk sitting out against Tottenham.
It will be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta will look to protect his stars against Newcastle. Given that the Gunners are dependent on their first XI players, it could prove to be a risky move. More so, Newcastle are also in good form and will not be easy opponents.
Tottenham also have troubles of their own to negotiate in the leadup to the game. Harry Kane is in a similar boat and will need to watch his back against Crystal Palace. It would not do us good to go into the NLD without our ace striker.

Tottenham’s excellent start to the campaign was undone following their loss to Arsenal in matchday eight. Hopefully we can return the favour later this month and add colour to a campaign that is increasingly looking to be off track.
