Antonio Conte has backed Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane to break all goalscoring records
Speaking in the post-match press conference after Tottenham Hotspur’s game against Crystal Palace as quoted by Independent, Antonio Conte has backed English superstar Harry Kane to break all goalscoring records by the time his playing career ends.
It looked like an all too familiar script for Tottenham in the first half when they failed to score even a single goal and went into halftime on a 0-0 scoreline. Something had to change and Harry Kane stepped up.
The Tottenham superstar scored minutes into the second half after getting on the end of an Ivan Perisic cross and then played a one-two with Spanish youngster Bryan Gil before slotting the game’s second goal.
Kane was heavily involved in the other two goals that Conte’s side scored. It was a timely reminder of why he is one of the world’s most all-rounded strikers and what he can do in a game.
It would have also been a welcome boost for Kane after the World Cup debacle that he suffered with England. The missed penalty seems to be an issue of the past now and the Tottenham man seems to have moved on.
Speaking about the talented striker, Conte called Kane ‘world class’ and expects him to break all goalscoring records.
“I think to speak about Harry, I think a bit that we waste time to explain about the type of player that he is. I repeat, we are talking about a really world-class striker and he’s going to beat every record with the goals.”
He is currently on 198 goals in 300 games for Spurs in his career and is close to Alan Shearer’s 260 Premier League goals record. He also has 53 strikes in 80 games for England – level with Wayne Rooney at the top of the tree for the Three Lions.
Kane will be hoping to continue his good form in the games to come. His performance last night was pivotal in getting the three points for Tottenham and it was a much-needed win for his side.
Spurs find themselves out of the top four as things stand. They will have to work doubly hard to get back in there. Conte will know that it is not easy to stay in the top 4 and it remains to be seen how it goes.
