Tottenham Hotspur target Leandro Trossard publicly asks for transfer with Brighton statement
In a statement issued by the agent of Leandro Trossard, Josy Comhair as reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Belgian player has publicly asked to leave Brighton in the January transfer window.
Things have turned very ugly for Trossard and Brighton in recent weeks. After an exceptional few months with the Seagulls where he was their best player, this is turning into a very messy divorce for the two parties.
Trossard has fallen out of favour with manager Roberto de Zerbi, interestingly after enjoying such an amazing run in the first few games of his time at the Amex. His contract was already expiring and he is now set to leave the club.
The Belgian has been linked with a move away from the club in recent days. Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with a move for the 28-year-old and it looks like a January transfer is on the cards.
To be fair to Trossard, this is probably the best time for him to move to his next club. He is coming off arguably his season in the Premier League and is on top of his game right now making it easy to find new clubs.
Tottenham signing Trossard makes sense considering Antonio Conte has not been hiding his requirement for another forward in the squad. Similarly, the Belgian would also be willing to work under the Italian manager.
However, the Belgian might not get regular game time here at N17. Unless we see a shift in position and Trossard being converted to a left or a right wing-back, he might struggle to start games.
