Tottenham Hotspur linked with Israel and Maccabi Tel Aviv star Oscar Gloukh
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Maccabi Tel Aviv playmaker Oscar Gloukh, as per Record (h/t SportWitness) [h/t Football.London].
Gloukh is still just 18 years old and making a name for himself in Israel’s first division. He has scored six goals and provided six assists in 21 games across competitions this season.
The teenager, who has been capped at the international level for Israel, can play as an attacking playmaker and as a central midfielder. He has a low centre of gravity which allows him to be slick with the ball in tight spaces.
The player has two-and-a-half years left on his deal at the Bloomfield Stadium (Transfermarkt) which gives his current team a fair degree of control over his immediate future. However, Maccabi can find it hard to keep hold of him if European giants come calling.
A smart move… but for the future
It’s fair to say they cannot offer him the competition, fame, and luxuries that a ‘big six’ club in the Premier League can. Unless he is very loyal to them, a club like Spurs can fancy their chances of prising him away.
However, he isn’t a solution for the present. He can come in and slowly make his mark in the youth system and then the senior team, and can be a great No. 10 for the future.
That is a profile we lack. Spurs don’t have nimble playmakers that can play behind strikers and weave their way out of tricky situations. But he isn’t a player that will immediately slot into the first team and give manager Antonio Conte selection headaches.

We will be happy if he proves that forecast wrong – if he does move to N17 – but fans would perhaps want a more proven, accomplished, and experienced player in attacking midfield right now – someone like James Maddison from Leicester City.
