Ben Jacobs confirms Tottenham Hotspur have scheduled a meeting with Sporting CP for Pedro Porro
According to popular journalist Ben Jacobs, Tottenham Hotspur have scheduled a meeting with Portuguese club Sporting CP to reach an agreement for Pedro Porro.
The talented right-back has been linked with a move to N17. The Spaniard is apparently Antonio Conte’s priority this transfer window and he is doing everything in his power to make sure this deal happens.
There is no problem on the player’s side that Tottenham will face. However, they need to reach an agreement with the Liga NOS club who are very adamant that they want the release clause paid.
Tottenham however are not keen on paying the release clause in its entirety and are hoping to strike a deal for Porro. However, the Portuguese club wants the player to stay and are unlikely to agree to Tottenham’s terms.
The Lilywhites though are trying their best. Jacobs has revealed that the North London club have a meeting scheduled with Sporting CP for next week where they will try and get the club to agree to a deal.
Porro is one of the most talented young right-backs going around. The former Manchester City youth player has really impressed at Sporting and it is not a surprise that Conte has identified him as the solution to his right wing-back troubles.
Despite having as many as three players for that position in Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence, none of them have managed to convince Conte and it looks like he has decided on signing someone new.
Porro has played much of his career as a right-back and it remains to be seen how his adaptability to the wing-back position would be. Playing in an Antonio Conte system is also not that easy.
