Tottenham target Yann Sommer closing in on Bayern Munich move
According to Fabrizio Romano (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur target Yann Sommer is closing in on a move to Bayern Munich as a replacement for the injured Manuel Neuer.
Tottenham are looking at options to replace the incumbent Hugo Lloris next season. The Spurs captain has been a pale shadow of the keeper he once was and has been struggling for quite some time now.
Lloris has been a great servant to the club for many seasons now. He has been sensational for Tottenham for a long time now but it does look like his time at the top is coming to an end if his recent performances are any indication.
Based on the placement of the shots on target he faced, Yann Sommer’s record-breaking 19 saves against Bayern prevented 3.35 goals.

The French World Cup winner has made quite a few errors this season directly leading to goals. He does not look like a reliable presence in between the sticks and it remains to be seen if he can recover from the slump.
Tottenham know that they cannot continue this way if they actually aspire to be a top team. It remains to be seen if they make a move in January for a keeper but that is really unlikely considering the current situation.
One of their summer targets in Yann Sommer though might not be available. The talented Swiss goalie is set to be on his way to Bayern Munich as a replacement for the injured Manuel Neuer.
Neuer has been ruled out for the rest of the season. The German shot-stopper is expected to be back next season though and it remains to be seen how Bayern Munich figure out the situation then.
There is hope that Sommer might be available then as well and Tottenham can push for him but they also have other transfer targets who would suit the role well. It remains to be seen who they eventually go for.
