Pete O’Rourke claims Marcus Edwards would consider Tottenham Hotspur return

Speaking to GiveMeSport as quoted by Football. London, transfer guru Pete O’ Rourke has claimed that former Tottenham Hotspur youth star Marcus Edwards would love to return to N17 should the opportunity arise.

The 24-year-old English winger was in Tottenham’s academy during his youth days and now plays for Liga NOS club Sporting CP. He has really impressed there and has been linked with a move back to the Premier League.

The talented young right-winger has shown that he is very well-rounded and can contribute with goals and assists. He is proving to be an important player for the Portuguese club and often influences games for them.

Edwards has played 26 times for the Portuguese club this season scoring nine goals and providing nine assists across all competitions. These numbers are very impressive and it comes as no surprise that he is being linked with a return.

Edwards has a contract until 2026 (Transfermarkt) with the Portuguese club and there is no doubt that they will demand big money for a player who seems to be having a huge future in the game.

Speaking about the player’s future, Pete O’ Rourke has claimed that he would love to return to Hotspur Way.

“Marcus Edwards would give serious consideration to a move back to Tottenham. Obviously, he did very well against them in the Champions League this season.

“I think the whole point of him leaving England in the first place to go to Sporting Lisbon was to get first-team football and to prove himself with the ultimate goal of probably coming back to England.”

If Tottenham want Edwards, they need to figure out where they fit him into their plans. The 24-year-old needs regular football to develop into a better player and we do not play a system with natural wingers.

The front three of Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Dejan Kulusevski are pretty much set in stone with the likes of Richarlison and Bryan Gil expected to provide competition from the bench.

Edwards coming back to N17 might not get him regular game time. He also does not have a natural position in the team. The 24-year-old will be better off moving elsewhere but let’s see how this goes.
