Spain international Pedro Porro “focused” on Sporting CP amidst links to Tottenham Hotspur
Sporting CP star and Spain international Pedro Porro is “focused” on giving his best for the Lisbon-based club amidst links to Tottenham Hotspur.
There are currently talks surrounding the 23-year-old and Spurs. The North London side have the likes of Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence at their disposal in the right wing-back role.
Speaking to SportTV via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Porro revealed that he was not paying attention to any speculation. The Spanish national is delighted to be with the Primeira Liga outfit.
“I’m not talking about the possibilities on the market — about staying nor about leaving. I’m focused on Sporting and I’m happy here.”
Porro has been at Sporting since the summer of 2020. Initially, he spent time on loan at the Lisbon-based club from Manchester City. However, in the previous transfer window, the Portuguese outfit permanently signed the Spanish national.
The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength at the Primeira Liga outfit. He has mostly played in the wing-back role for Ruben Amorim’s team in the current campaign.
This season, Porro has shown his creative output. In 23 appearances in all competitions, the Spaniard has found the back of the net two times and has provided 10 assists.
Tottenham have signed several right wing-backs over the years. First, we bought Doherty from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2020. However, it has not worked out for the Ireland international in North London.
Spurs then went out and acquired Emerson’s services from Barcelona in the summer of 2021. Unfortunately, the Brazilian has been underwhelming during his time at the club.
Subsequently, Spence was one of the several arrivals in the previous transfer window. However, Conte has barely five the youngster any minutes this season.
