Antonio Conte expresses his desire to help Harry Kane win trophies at Tottenham
Speaking in an interview as quoted by the Independent, Antonio Conte has expressed his desire to help Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane win trophies in the near future.
It felt like a kind of promise from the Italian manager that he feels that together with Kane, they could win trophies here. It was also an open invitation to let the Englishman know what he thinks of him with regards to a contract renewal.
At some level, it was also a hint that maybe he could stay at N17 beyond the current season as well. All this came in the aftermath of Kane’s record-equalising 266th goal that took him on level with Jimmy Greaves.
The Englishman’s solitary striker was enough to see Tottenham get past Fulham. It was a rather decent performance at Craven Cottage that was topped off by the fact that they secured a clean sheet.
Conte revealed that Kane managed to play in the game against Fulham despite being unwell. It shows the sheer determination that the player has and his dedication towards the team as he could have easily asked for rest.
Speaking about the player, Conte claimed that together with Harry, the duo will be able to get Tottenham trophies.
“Today he was amazing. I think he scored a fantastic goal. I want to underline Harry played with a fever. For sure, I would like to help him and me, also his team-mates, to try to do something important, to win something with Tottenham because he loves Tottenham”
Winning silverware is something that has eluded Tottenham for quite some time now. It was precisely one of the main reasons Conte was brought into the N17 considering that he has been a serial winner in his career.
The Italian manager knows that he needs to win a trophy for Tottenham to get the monkey off the back of the club. It is something that has haunted the club for so long now and they need to find a way.
