Inter Milan to offer a new contract for Tottenham target Alessandro Bastoni
According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan are set to start contract negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Alessandro Bastoni.
Bastoni has been linked with a move to N17 for quite some time now. The talented Italian defender is one of the most impressive defenders in the Serie A and Antonio Conte will know all too well about it.
Bastoni’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, with a number of top clubs said to be interested in signing him. Tottenham have been linked with a move for the defender, but it seems that Inter are determined to keep hold of him.
The Tottenham manager has coached Bastoni in the past during his time in Milan. He will know all too about the centre-back’s abilities in and out of possession and he thinks he will be a good fit at North London.
Bastoni is an established defender in Serie A. Despite being fairly young, it feels like the 23-year-old has been around forever. With less than 18 months left on his current deal, it comes as no surprise that Inter want to get him to agree a new deal.
Tottenham’s interest in Bastoni is not surprising, given the club’s need for defensive reinforcements. The North London club have shipped goals for fun this season and need a good option at the back.
Being left-footed would also work in advantage of Bastoni. Right now, Tottenham have Ben Davies and Clement Lenglet to play in that role. The former is on loan though and would likely go back.
