AS Roma ask Tottenham Hotspur about Lucas Moura

Tottenham Hotspur forward Lucas Moura is apparently on the radar of AS Roma as they look for a potential Nicolo Zaniolo replacement.

According to Tuttomercatoweb via TheBootRoom (h/t Football.London), I Giallorossi have apparently enquired about the 30-year-old forward who isn’t seeing much playing time under manager Antonio Conte.

Zaniolo has been on Spurs’ radar this month as they look to seal a January deal for the 23-year-old Italy international. As per Sky Sports, Tottenham have shown strong interest in the player who is valued at 35million Pounds.

He would strengthen our attack to a great extent given his versatility and quality. The same attack that doesn’t seem to require Lucas’ services any longer.

He has played just 93 minutes of league football this season spread across eight games. That is a surprisingly low number of minutes for a player of his quality and experience.

What next for Lucas?

Moreover, given the injury issues to Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison just before and just after the 2022 FIFA World Cup should have seen him play more. But injuries and fitness issues have meant that he has been restricted to the periphery of Conte’s side.

If he isn’t playing regularly due to injuries, then it is hard to throw him into the action when he is fit because he isn’t in the groove. At 30, and on a contract that expires this summer (Transfermarkt), it’s best we part ways with him.

Letting him in January will be our last chance to rake in some money from his transfer as he could leave as a free agent this summer. There is nothing to suggest that a deal for Zaniolo to Spurs and Lucas to Roma could be intertwined.

But it would be a smart move by Spurs to use the former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star as a makeweight. Let’s see what happens in the five days that follow.
