Tottenham Hotspur ‘really close’ to sealing transfer for Sporting CP full-back and Spain international Pedro Porro
Sporting CP star Pedro Porro is ‘really close’ to sealing a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the ongoing transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
Spurs are set to hold a new round of talks with the Primeira Liga outfit to secure the 23-year-old’s services. At the moment, the negotiations for the Spain international are at the key stages.
The North London side and the Leoes now have to come to an agreement on the payment terms for the full-back. However, there is optimism that a deal could be concluded in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Porro has been at Sporting CP since the summer of 2020. Initially, he had joined the Portuguese outfit on loan from Manchester City. However, in the previous transfer window, the Leoes permanently signed the 23-year-old.
The full-back has been a key player for the Primeira Liga outfit over the years. However, in the current campaign, he has gone from strength to strength and has been pivotal to Ruben Amorim’s plans.
This season, the Spaniard has been a creative force for Sporting CP. He has made 25 appearances in all competitions for the Leoes, finding the back of the net three times and setting up 11 goals as a wingback.
Tottenham have two established right-backs, Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty, in the squad. Antonio Conte has called upon both of them in the current campaign. However, they have been inconsistent.
We also signed Djed Spence in the previous transfer window. The 22-year-old was one of the best players in the Championship last season. But the England U21 international has hardly got a chance at Spurs.
