Bournemouth make their opening offer for Tottenham Hotspur target Nicolo Zaniolo
According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Roman (h/t Football.london), Bournemouth have made an offer to land Tottenham Hotspur target Nicolo Zaniolo in the ongoing January transfer window.
The 23-year-old has been one of Italy’s best young players for a while now and has caught Spurs’ fancy over the last few years. While injuries have stalled his development, the Italian still has time to rekindle his career and could prove to be a shrewd addition.
A versatile attacker, Tottenham could do with a player of Zaniolo’s strengths. Signing him will take the pressure off Harry Kane to find the back of the net.
Bournemouth are also in the market for reinforcements and are now eyeing Zaniolo. The Cherries have made an opening bid of €30million plus add-ons and sell-on clauses. It represents a decent offer for a player who needs to rediscover his old self post-injury.
Italian champions AC Milan are also in the race and for now, hold the edge when it comes to signing the player. The Rossoneri are keen to take Zaniolo on loan this month with an obligation to make the deal permanent in the summer.
Bournemouth’s offer falls short of AS Roma’s asking price of £35m. However, it remains to be seen if the add on clauses will make up for the deficit. The Italians are ready to sell the player whose contract at the Stadio Olimpico is up in 2024.
If he is willing to move to the Premier League, Tottenham can offer Zaniolo far better opportunities than Bournemouth who were only promoted earlier this season. More so, he can also work under fellow Italian Antonio Conte.

Having already signed Arnaut Danjuma this month, Tottenham are now after Sporting CP star Pedro Porro. Whether there is money in the tank to also make a late push for Zaniolo remains to be seen. Hopefully, we will not come to regret the decision in the future.
