Manchester United urged to bid £60m Anthony Martial for Tottenham’s Harry Kane

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has suggested Manchester United bid £60million and Anthony Martial in a bid to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.

He said on the Wrighty’s House Podcast (h/t Football.London):

“If Man United came now, [for] Harry Kane with a year left, let’s say they put £60m on the table and we’ll throw in someone, Martial, whatever… it’s a very good deal.”

“If Man United have got any serious thinking about what we need to do next, it’s a No 9. It seems like a no-brainer that Harry Kane is the person [they should sign]. He takes them somewhere else.”

Kane actually has a year and a half left on his deal at N17. It is true that Spurs could risk losing him on a free transfer next year if he doesn’t renew his contract, but Martial is a strict no.

We should immediately reject a bid such as this. It’s better to take full cash and invest it in a proper world-class replacement rather than a so-and-so player.

This is the club’s joint all-time top scorer we are talking about here. It’s almost a given he breaks that record in the coming weeks.

We have to make sure that first, we try to get Kane to renew his contract. If it becomes clear that we can’t get him on new terms then it’s best to sell him in the summer for a huge fee – perhaps a nine-figure sum.

Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici are wiser than accepting a player of Martial’s ilk in return. He’s 27, has 59 goals in 184 Premier League games in his career and has never fulfilled the potential he showed as a teenager at AS Monaco.

Strict no.
