Sevilla to make new effort to sign Tottenham Hotspur starlet Bryan Gil

Sevilla are set to make a ‘new effort’ to sign Tottenham Hotspur starlet Bryan Gil, as per Spanish outlet Mucho Deporte (h/t Football.London).

The Spaniard is finding playing time hard to come by. The only minutes he got this season have largely been due to injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison.

He has just 306 minutes across competitions this season. Sevilla are confident that they can be aided in their pursuit of Gil due to his situation at Spurs.

He is currently not in manager Antonio Conte’s immediate first-team plans, that is for sure. Manager Jorge Sampaoli wants Gil because of his prior experience in La Liga.

Sevilla to make a charge for Gil

The Spanish winger was on Sevilla’s books from 2012 to 2021 before he made his way to N17 with Erik Lamela going the other way. He was then loaned to Valencia for the second half of the 2021-22 season.

Sevilla apparently want to loan Gil with an option to buy him in the summer. For Spurs, this could be a way out if they believe he isn’t going to make it in England.

Of course, he is still just 21, but the way he has hardly played games here is concerning. His physique seems to have improved over time, so that is a positive.

But we let Lamela leave and paid £21million for him. If we can recoup that amount, then great. He was, after all, a signing made under a manager who isn’t here at Spurs anymore.
