Tottenham Hotspur coach gives update on Arnaut Danjuma and Harry Kane before Preston clash
Tottenham Hotspur coach Cristian Stellini, as he has done in the past, took over media duty from manager Antonio Conte before the FA Cup fourth-round clash against Preston North End on Saturday.
Spurs recently confirmed the signing of Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal on loan. The Italian tactician has confirmed that the Netherlands international will be available for selection at Deepdale.
He said at a press conference (h/t Football.London):
“Arnaut Danjuma is available, he is a player we can use tomorrow in the game.”
Harry Kane, meanwhile, could be in line for a much-deserved rest. Stellini added that the 29-year-old striker played in the 1-0 Premier League win over Fulham earlier this week with illness.
He could miss the game against Preston as a result. Stellini added:
“We have only one problem, with Harry [Kane], because he played the last game full of illness. He didn’t train during the week, he trained this morning, but he wants to come with us and be available.”
“We know very well that Harry wants to play every game, so we are happy that Harry is involved in the game, but the only situation we have to take care is this.”
That’s it then. We can start looking forward to a potential debut for Danjuma. This is the reason we would have brought him in for – to give rest to our first-team superstars when the games are coming thick and fast.
The former AFC Bournemouth forward can play down the middle and on the flank. It would be ideal if we rest Kane for this game as we should have enough in our ranks to see this game out without him.
