Fabio Paratici talks about Tottenham’s January arrivals

In an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, Tottenham Hotspur director Fabio Paratici spoke about the club’s recent acquisitions of Pedro Porro from Sporting CP and Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal.

Porro, a Spanish right-back, joined Tottenham from Sporting CP in January 2023. Paratici stated that the club was impressed by Porro’s athleticism and technical ability, which made him an ideal fit for their style of play.

The former Manchester City youth player was not an easy recruitment for Tottenham with this transfer saga dragging on for almost the entirety of the transfer window before finally reaching a conclusion on deadline day.

Speaking about Porro, here is what Paratici had to say about the Spanish full-back and his role at Tottenham.

“Pedro Porro, first of all he is an international player who in the last two or three seasons played in European competition, played national team for Spain, so he is a player that has different skills that we didn’t have before. He has a lot of quality, he is explosive so we are very, very happy and excited to sign him”

Regarding Danjuma, Paratici emphasized that he is a player for the next few years. He stated that the winger’s ability to create and score goals makes him an exciting addition to the existing frontline.

The former Villarreal man has had a great start to life in North London, scoring on his debut for the club. Paratici will be happy about his decision to sign the talented winger and will hope he can continue in a similar vein.

Danjuma in particular would be a very good personal achievement for the Italian sporting director, having sensationally hijacked the winger’s pending transfer to Everton at the very last minute.

Speaking about the Nigerian, Paratici was very clear in his thinking behind the signing of Danjuma.

“I think Danjuma will be really important, he can help us a lot. He is a player that for two or three years, in every transfer window, he was near to joining some big clubs and even in the last summer Villarreal rejected a big offer for him and when we got the opportunity to sign him, we took this opportunity.”

Overall, Tottenham would be happy with what they have been able to do in January. They have not plugged all the holes in the team but a new right-back and a backup forward was a necessity and it’s good that they have managed that.
