Ciro Venerato reveals Tottenham Hotspur are not the only club interested in Alex Meret
Italian journalist Ciro Venerato has revealed that Tottenham are not the only Premier League club interested in signing Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret, speaking to AreaNapoli.
The talented shot-stopper has been making waves in Serie A and has reportedly caught the eye of several top English clubs. Meret is considered one of the most promising young goalkeepers in Europe.
His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed and many believe that he has the potential to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Tottenham need a new player in between the sticks.
According to Venerato, Meret is happy in Naples and would only leave for a “very important experience”. However, with several top Premier League clubs interested in his services, it’s possible that he could be tempted to make a move to England in the near future.
Venerato also revealed that Napoli are keeping an eye on the situation and if Meret were to leave, they would look to sign a replacement. The journalist stated that the club is considering several options, including Vicario, a promising young goalkeeper who could fill the void left by Meret.
Speaking about Tottenham’s interest in Meret, Venerato has claimed that they are not the only English club wanting him.
“Meret is doing very well in Naples and would only leave for a very important experience, in the Premier there is not only Tottenham but also other teams follow him. The Azzurri are looking around and if Meret were to leave then he would take Vicario ”
Tottenham’s incumbent goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris has been a great servant for the club but time waits for no man and eventually, the Frenchman seems to be showing signs of slowing down and going down on his level.
It is not reliable for a club like Spurs to go with a less reliable keeper. Meret has shown a lot of promise. We have shown a penchant to sign players from Serie A and the Napoli shot-stopper could be on the way.
