Tottenham News: Spurs could cash in on ‘favours’ to sign Atletico Madrid duo Jan Oblak and Yannick Carrasco
Tottenham Hotspur could make moves for Atletico Madrid duo Jan Oblak and Yannick Carrasco this summer after doing Los Colchoneros a couple of favours recently.
This is according to MARCA (h/t Express), who claim that Spurs could cash in on their favours done in the Matt Doherty and Sergio Reguilon deals to sign two Atletico stars. Oblak is one of the very best in the world.
The 30-year-old still has a number of years left in him given the shelf life of goalkeepers. Moreover, Spurs are apparently looking to replace 36-year-old Hugo Lloris.
The former France international has made several errors in recent months that have shown that he could be past his best. Oblak, however, has a contract that only expires in the summer of 2028 (Transfermarkt).
What should Spurs do here?
Carrasco, meanwhile, could also be a smart option for manager Antonio Conte. The Belgium international can and has played as a full-back down the left-hand side before and can also contribute in attack.
He will have one year on his deal left at the Wanda Metropolitano at the end of the season. But Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Barcelona have the option to purchase him as a part of their deal to sell Memphis Depay to Atletico Madrid permanently last month.
Spurs, meanwhile, let Sergio Reguilon join Atletico on a season-long loan deal last summer before ripping up 31-year-old Republic of Ireland international Matt Doherty to let him join the Spanish club on a permanent basis.
If we can make moves for Oblak and Carrasco for a financially sound amount, then we would be solving a big headache between the posts regarding who succeeds Lloris and also add quality depth down the left flank.

Ivan Perisic is good but he is 34 and out of contract at the end of next season (Transfermarkt). Carrasco, 29, will be a good solution to that potential problem who will offer a similar attacking threat as the Croatia international.
