Tottenham Hotspur could battle Arsenal for Marcus Thuram
Tottenham Hotspur could be locked in a battle with Arsenal to sign Borussia Monchengladbach star Marcus Thuram, as per AS via Sport Witness (h/t Liverpool Echo).
But Spurs must qualify for the UEFA Champions League if they want to be in the running to sign him. He has previously been linked with moves to Bayern Munich and Liverpool. The 25-year-old could leave as a free agent this summer.
If so, it would be a massive chance for some of Europe’s biggest teams to sign a full-fledged France international playing at the peak of his powers. Spurs simply have to be in the race no matter what.
Thuram, who represented France at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and even played in the final against Argentina, has scored 13 goals and provided four assists in 20 games across competitions this term.
Thuram to Spurs?
Yes, we do have Harry Kane, Dejan Kulusevski, Son Heung-min, and Richarlison as our world-class options. Arnaut Danjuma has also been added to the mix on a loan deal until the summer.
But you simply cannot let the chance to sign Thuram on a free pass you by. Of course, the player may have his reservations if playing time isn’t guaranteed.
But 30-year-old Son cannot keep playing forever while Kane’s (29) future at Spurs in the long run his hanging by a thread contract expires in the summer of 2024. In this situation, this is a no-brainer.
Arsenal signed Leandro Trossard, have Eddie Nketiah firing on all cylinders since Gabriel Jesus’ injury, and will welcome back in-form Falorin Balogun this summer, who has scored 15 goals in 21 games across competitions this season on loan at Stade de Reims.

Hopefully, that takes them out of the running for Thuram but the Frenchman, who is versatile enough to play anywhere in the frontline, could be seen as an upgrade on some of the options they may possess up front.
Hence, we will have to wary of the Gunners and look to pip them as soon as possible in the race for Thuram.
