Tottenham Hotspur coach confirm Lucas Moura injury boost for Manchester City clash
Lucas Moura’s future at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the summer is hanging by a thread. He is in the final five months of his contract at the club (Transfermarkt).
Manager Antonio Conte has already voiced his frustrations about the Brazil international’s constant injury issues recently and his inability to use the former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward.
But for now, it seems that the 30-year-old could play a bit-part role in the second half of the season. Bryan Gil’s loan departure to Sevillia would have opened up a place for him if it wasn’t for Arnaut Danjuma’s temporary arrival from Villarreal until the summer.
Nevertheless, he is our sixth option in attack for now, alongside Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Danjuma, and Richarlison. Spurs assistant manager Cristian Stellini has confirmed that Lucas is back in training.
Speaking before the game against Manchester City on Sunday at N17, he said h/t Football.London):
“No [new] injuries. We recover also Lucas [Moura] and we are happy to say that because Lucas has been training this week. He played 45 minutes with the young team and is back.”
Alongside this, he also confirmed Richarlison is fit and available for the game against the Cityzens after sitting out of our 3-0 FA Cup win over Preston North End last month at Deepdale.
Moura being fit doesn’t mean he’ll start. It also doesn’t necessarily mean he will even feature in the game off the bench considering the options at our disposal.
He may have lost a yard or two of pace as he has gotten older and suffered injuries, but his close control and ability to link up play makes him very dangerous in the hole and out wide.
