Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Napoli set to make Tanguy Ndombele decision in coming months

Tanguy Ndombele joined Napoli on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur last summer.

The French midfielder joined us for a then-club-record fee of 65 million Pounds in the summer of 2019. Since then, he has struggled to get a foothold in our starting XI.

Managers such as Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte have opted not to stick with Ndombele for too long in their starting XI. A loan move to Naples last summer came after the Frenchman was shipped to Olympique Lyonnais on a temporary six-month deal last January.

It seems that Tottenham want to find a permanent solution for Ndombele but they just can’t. According to Football.London, Napoli will use the second half of the season to make a decision on whether they want to buy the 26-year-old midfielder permanently or not.

He has a £26.7million option to buy embedded into his contract, and Napoli will apparently look to bring it down if they opt to make Ndombele’s move to Naples permanent. If that’s the case, Spurs should be rushing to the negotiating table.

We need to offload Ndombele

We cannot afford to keep a player on board whose wages are being wasted. It will be a long way back to the first-team setup for him under manager Antonio Conte.

It won’t be impossible, of course, but we have seen enough in recent years to know that Ndombele is hardly going to cut it in our team. He has those moments of magic.

But those are few and far in between. Napoli aren’t really making the most of his services this season as well, having handed him just 539 minutes of Serie A action so far.

Hopefully, he has a few good months under manager Luciano Spalletti and they take him off our hands for good this summer.
