Piero Hincapie valued at £50 million by Bayer Leverkusen amidst Tottenham Hotspur interest
Bayern Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie is now valued at more than £50 million by the Bundesliga outfit amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur, according to Football Insider.
In the recent transfer window, a number of clubs were looking to acquire the centre-back’s services. However, the BayArena side were unwilling to part ways with him.
The Ecuador international recently extended his contract until 2027 with the Black and Reds. As a result, the German side now expect the 21-year-old’s value to rocket, having asked for £20 million last year.
Hincapie is keen on moving to the Premier League, though. The centre-back’s representatives have been assessing the market for potential teams. In the English top-flight, along with Spurs, Newcastle United are also eyeing him.
The Ecuadorian has been at Leverkusen since the summer of 2021. During his short time in European football, the 21-year-old has caught the eyes of a lot of people with his displays. The youngster also played every minute for La Tri in the 2022 World Cup.
In the current campaign, who can play in the middle or out wide on the left, has made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring one goal.
At Tottenham, Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies have once again been Antonio Conte’s preferred trio in the backline. However, defensively, Spurs have been shaky.
Clement Lenglet, who joined the North London side on loan from Barcelona last summer, has also played considerable minutes. However, the France international has been underwhelming when he has featured.

Therefore, Tottenham evidently need to go once again into the market in the upcoming transfer window to bolster the defence. Hincapie is a young centre-back with immense potential. But it remains to be seen whether Spurs will opt to sign him in the coming months.
