Portsmouth boss John Mousinho believes Tottenham Hotspur starlet Dane Scarlett is ready for the Premier League
Speaking to The News as quoted by Football. London, Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has claimed that Tottenham wonderkid Dane Scarlett who is on loan at the club is ready for the Premier League.
Tottenham Hotspur has always been a breeding ground for young talent. The likes of Harry Kane, Gareth Bale, and Harry Winks all came through the academy and went on to establish themselves as key players in the Premier League.
Now, it seems that another young prodigy is on the horizon – Dane Scarlett. The 18-year-old striker has been turning heads during his loan spell at Portsmouth. Despite dividing opinions, head coach John Mousinho has been full of praise for the youngster.
At 16 years, 248 days, Dane Scarlett is the youngest ever player to appear for Tottenham in a competitive game.

Scarlett’s confidence is something that has been noted by many in the footballing world. The young lad is not afraid to take on defenders and has the skill and speed to get past them. He has a huge future ahead of him in the game.
Tottenham Hotspur has been working hard to nurture Scarlett’s talent. The club has him on a long-term contract, and it’s clear that they see great potential in him. At just 18 years of age, Scarlett has the world at his feet, and the more goals he can score, the better.
Speaking about the teenager, here is what Mousinho had to say about the potential that the player possesses.
“That’s what we were talking to Dane about on Saturday. At Plymouth, he showed Premier League quality to burst from the left-back area into the middle of the park and went away from 3-4 players, then it was a bit of decision-making in the final third”
As a young player, Scarlett needs to focus on improving his all-round game and making the most of every opportunity he gets. He will have to take his chances and show his parent club that he deserves a role here.
At his current state, Scarlett might still be a couple of loan spells away before he becomes ready to play for Tottenham. However, the next couple of loan spells could be at a higher level than Portsmouth though.
