Tottenham Hotspur’s January target Adama Traore mulling new contract at Wolves

Tottenham Hotspur were interested in signing Adama Traore from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the recently-concluded January transfer window, as per TEAMTalk (h/t LeedsLive).

We did not sign the Spanish winger and instead ended up with Arnaut Danjuma on a six-month loan deal from Villarreal. Traore is versatile enough to play as an attacking right-wing-back.

However, we signed Pedro Porro from Sporting CP on a permanent transfer instead. Now, the Daily Mail claims that the former Barcelona winger is mulling a new contract at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He is currently in the final few months of his contract at Molineux and could leave as a free agent this summer. Traore has been free to discuss a Bosman transfer with a foreign club since January.

Wise to revisit this link?

However, he hasn’t yet done so. Napoli have been cited as a potential suitor if he doesn’t pen fresh terms and becomes a free agent this summer.

The new wages would be lesser than the 100,000 Pounds-a-week contract that he was offered in 2021. He turned down those terms amidst interest from Spurs.

He secured a January loan to Barcelona last year but that didn’t really work out for him in the long run. As it turns out, he is still at Wolves.

Would it be wise for Spurs to revisit this link? Perhaps yes. Danjuma is expected to return to the Yellow Submarine this summer and we can use a speed demon like Traore to make a direct impact from the bench.

His ability to run at defenders and beat them for pace is virtually unmatched. His fresh legs from the bench can do serious damage and for potentially nothing in transfer fees, this would be a no-brainer.
