Alasdair Gold baffled by Tottenham star Lucas Moura exit links
Speaking to Football. London, Alasdair Gold is baffled by the recent exit links of Lucas Moura, with the Brazilian said to be closing in on a move to Turkey.
Tottenham Hotspur are enjoying an upturn in fortunes since the arrival of Antonio Conte. The Italian has transformed the team into a formidable unit but they still lack consistency and there are question marks over the Italian’s future.
Recent reports linking Lucas Moura with a move away from the club have raised eyebrows among the Tottenham faithful. Alasdair Gold, the renowned journalist who covers the North London club, has expressed his bewilderment at the rumours.
Whilst everyone knows that the Brazilian is expected to leave N17 in the summer, letting him leave now when he is on the verge of returning to fitness could be catastrophic for the club as they are very light in that department.
Moura has hardly contributed this season but his performances over the years cannot be undermined by any stretch of the imagination. He has been a cult hero at the club and deserves respect for everything he has done.
Speaking about the situation, here is what Gold had to say about the prospect of losing Moura right now.
“There doesn’t seem to be any current indication from within the club that he will leave before the summer. If that did suddenly change, t’s a move that doesn’t really make any sense for Spurs or, financially at least, Lucas”
“To loan out Bryan Gil and then also allow Lucas Moura to leave would be crazy. Antonio Conte has finally got proper squad depth in those attacking positions and to lose one of them for the sake of around three months’ wages would be daft”
What Gold is saying is right. If we have an injury crisis in the forward line like the one we have in midfield currently, Moura can still be very useful to have in the squad and we must not take that risk.
Especially whilst having players like Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison in the forward line who have shown themselves to be really injury-prone, Tottenham must be wiser when making decisions regarding injuries.
