Daniel Levy does not consider Thomas Tuchel as an option to replace Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur
Popular CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy does not consider former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel as an option to replace Antonio Conte should the Italian leave N17.
As Tottenham Hotspur continue to battle it out on the pitch in the Premier League, the future of their current manager, Antonio Conte, is a subject of much speculation. While the former Inter Milan chief is still recovering from gallbladder surgery, there are no immediate signs of his long-term future at the club being resolved anytime soon
In the meantime, rumours of potential replacements continue to surface, with one of the most notable names being former Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentinian’s return to Tottenham has been gathering momentum for some time now.
Roberto de Zerbi is another name being considered as a serious option to be in the managerial hot seat at N17. However, the Italian is really new to this Premier League job at Brighton and it seems unrealistic.
Conte, who is assessing Tottenham’s project based on factors such as their Champions League aspirations and recruitment model, is said to be keen to see clear investment in the team to bring in one or two marquee signings.
However, one manager who is not being considered for the top job is former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel. According to Jacobs, Levy does not see Tuchel as a fit for Tottenham, and the German is not pushing for the role.
Here is what Jacobs had to say to Team Talk about the prospect of the former Chelsea and PSG manager replacing Antonio Conte
“My understanding is that Daniel Levy doesn’t see Tuchel as a fit for Tottenham. And Tuchel himself is not necessarily pushing that one at this stage. So I think that Tuchel cannot be considered a likely future Spurs manager or a frontrunner in any way. At least, not for as long as Daniel Levy remains at the club”
It is a bit baffling that Levy thinks Tuchel will not be a good fit for Tottenham. The German manager has great pedigree and his quality cannot be undermined. However, Pochettino or De Zerbi are not bad alternatives.
