Cristian Stellini gives latest Tottenham Hotspur injury update for Sheffield United FA Cup clash

Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Cristian Stellini has confirmed that there are no fresh injury concerns for his team ahead of their FA Cup fifth-round clash against Sheffield United on 1 March.

The Lilywhites beat Chelsea 2-0 in north London this weekend. To sweeten that further, Stellini has revealed that there are no fresh injuries.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the match against the Blades, he said (h/t Football.London):

“No fresh injuries. All the players are good. It’s normal that after two days the players need more time to recover.”

So, the current injuries we have are the ones we already know of. Rodrigo Bentancur has been ruled out for the season while Yves Bissouma, Hugo Lloris, and Ryan Sessegnon continue to be on the sidelines.

No real bother for Spurs

Fraser Forster has shown that he isn’t a shabby backup for Lloris. He was pretty good in our win against Chelsea in N17.

Oliver Skipp, Pape Matar Sarr and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are our options in midfield. Ivan Perisic and Ben Davies, meanwhile, can play down the left-hand flank.

Games like this are tricky. Getting a non-Premier League side can sometimes make clubs field weaker line-ups than usual in domestic games, which automatically increases the chance of a cup upset.

One can’t blame Stellini (and manager Antonio Conte) if they are inclined to field a weaker team. We play Wolverhampton Wanderers three days after the game against Sheffield United before a UEFA Champions League second-leg round-of-16 clash against AC Milan where we must overturn a 1-0 deficit.

A mix-and-match team would do just fine here. We can’t take the FA Cup lightly. Having not won a trophy for 15 years, we can’t really choose what competition we want to win.
