Rio Ferdinand reveals praise for Tottenham managerial target Roberto de Zerbi
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand was full of praise for Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial target Roberto de Zerbi for his impressive work at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ferdinand compared the way Danny Welbeck and Adam Lallana speak about De Zerbi to how Chelsea players spoke about Jose Mourinho during his first stint at the club. That is huge praise for the Italian coach.
For Spurs fans, the possibility of De Zerbi taking over at the helm is an exciting one. It is no secret that Antonio Conte’s future at the club is uncertain, and there have been rumours of a potential departure in the summer.

If that were to happen, Tottenham would be faced with a difficult decision about who to bring in as his replacement. However, the praise that De Zerbi has been receiving from players and pundits alike certainly makes him a strong contender.
What is particularly interesting about De Zerbi is his background. He may not be a household name in England, but he has already built a strong reputation in Italy. He is known for his innovative tactics and attention to detail, as well as his ability to get the best out of his players.
Brighton fans will be understandably nervous about the prospect of losing De Zerbi, who has done an excellent job since taking over earlier this season. The Seagulls would have been worried about Graham Potter leaving but things have turned out well.
For Tottenham, the potential benefits of bringing in De Zerbi are clear. He is a young, dynamic manager who is not afraid to take risks and try new things. He has a track record of developing young players and getting the best out of them, which would be a huge asset for a club like Spurs.
Here is what Ferdinand had to say about the talented manager and comparing him to Jose Mourinho is definitely a great thing.
“I saw Welbs the other day, and Adam Lallana. And the way they spoke about this guy, I’ve never seen them speak about a manager like that. The last time I saw a player speak about a manager like this was when Mourinho was here at Chelsea”
