Tottenham star Richarlison hits out at Antonio Conte for lack of game time
The recent Champions League elimination of Tottenham against Milan at home left a bitter taste in the mouth of the players, and Brazilian star Richarlison was no exception. In an interview with TNT Sports (h/t ESPN), the striker criticized coach Antonio Conte and his team for not giving him enough game time.
Richarlison expressed his disappointment and confusion over being left on the bench for such an important game, especially given his recent good form in the Premier League. The Brazilian feels that he deserved to start in this big game.
The striker’s frustration was compounded by the lack of explanation from the coaching staff, who he claims didn’t tell him why he was left out. He also mentioned how he was asked to take a fitness test before the game, only to be left on the bench during the match.
Despite the disappointment, Richarlison remained professional and acknowledged that he still had time to make an impact in the team. He emphasized that he was ready to give his all whenever he was called upon and that he remained committed to working hard and improving his game.
However, it’s clear that the lack of game time has been a source of frustration for the Brazilian this season.
“That’s what I didn’t understand, too (being a substitute). It was going well, in a good sequence, two wins against West Ham and Chelsea . Suddenly, he put me on the bench, against Wolverhampton he put me on for five minutes. I asked what Why, they didn’t tell me anything”
“This season, sorry for the word, it’s been shit, because I don’t have minutes, I suffered a little with the injury. But, when I enter the field, I give my life. I came from two games well, I think that’s it, I think I should have played and I don’t have to cry about it.”
From Antonio Conte’s perspective, his decision to leave Richarlison on the bench may have been based on a number of factors. Tactical considerations, fitness concerns, and the need to rotate players are all factors that coaches consider when selecting a team. It’s possible that Conte saw something in training or in the opposition that made him decide to leave Richarlison out.
In any case, the Brazilian’s comments should not be seen as a criticism of the team or the coach, but rather as a sign of his desire to play and contribute to the team’s success. His passion and commitment to the game are qualities that should be celebrated, and his frustration should be seen as a sign of his hunger for success.
However, it looks Antonio Conte has had his last straw at Tottenham. Richarlison openly criticising the manager could be due to the fact that he might know that the manager is only going to be around for a short while.
