Antonio Conte believes Tottenham Hotspur fans have lost faith in him
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte believes that while the club may back him, the North London side’s fans have lost faith in him.
The Italian was appointed head coach in the middle of the previous campaign after the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo. In his previous spell in England, the former Inter Milan gaffer won the Premier League title.
Therefore, it did not come as a surprise to see that people had high expectations for Conte when he arrived in Spurs’ dugout. He was seen by many fans as the one to end the Lilywhites’ trophy drought.
Last season, while Tottenham were shaky, the Italian managed to get the team into the top four. We beat Arsenal to fourth position and qualified for the Champions League.
Subsequently, the North London side went into the summer of 2022 and made a number of decent signings. We then started the current campaign on a high note. But in the last few months, Spurs have been underwhelming.
Speaking to the media via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Conte demanded time and patience to turn things around at Tottenham. However, the gaffer feels supporters are not backing him anymore.
“We have to win together, I need time and patience. I ask for time and patience but I see that the patience has finished.
“The club can give me time. The club has patience. But the patience is finished for the fans. You don’t build the win in one day, two days.”
Inconsistency has been a big issue for Spurs this season. We seem incapable of getting a string of positive results. The North London side’s last win came against Chelsea, and the display was impressive, to say the least.
However, since then, we have lost to Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers and were knocked out by AC Milan in the Champions League round of 16. The Lilywhites lacked the cutting edge in the second leg at home versus the Rosoneri and the game ended in a stalemate, with the Serie A giants advancing with a 1-0 win on aggregate.

The football has not been good to watch on most occasions in the current campaign. Tottenham have been extremely defensive and on the backfoot on most occasions. Conte has been unable to solidify us defensively as well. Therefore, it would be best for the Italian to part ways with Spurs in the coming future.
